Shadows inspire me. I like creating paintings that show the subtle variations in color of sunlit objects- be it the face of my adolescent son or the back lit roses in my living room. The interplay between turquoise and carmine fascinates me. It's a constant pleasure to see ultramarine blue magically granulate on glistening Arches paper. I think watercolor best showcases the beauty and mystery of light and shadow.
